Guided paddling and handicraft tour on Fyrisån!
This tour runs on an easy pace, it is thought for you who want to discover the river and it’s resources for crafting and more specifically the use of wild plants. The goal of the tour is to try something new and have fun while expressing your creativity, to use our hands and our imagination. There is no goal on what to produce and you don’t need to be an experienced craft person to take part in it!
We are going to hang out while paddling and enjoy the beautiful river in the immediate vicinity of Uppsala. We will explore its nature and discover the natural materials it offers to make your own handicrafts. We will harvest them and see how to make them useable for weaving. We will use our hands and imagination to create something new, meet other people with similar interests, and have fun together.
Of course, there will be time for coffee!
Overview:
This tour is a boat tour with canoe. The route that we are going to paddle can vary in length but is often about 8 km long and takes max 2,5 hours (depending on the interest of the group). It is recommended for those who can paddle at an easy pace for about 2,5 hours. You are going to paddle with our experienced guide and do not need to be an experienced paddler as the tour will be adapted to your conditions. Before we start paddling, all participants will be briefed on safety equipment and instructions at the level the individual needs.
The tour begins with gathering in the parking lot by Sport Adventure Travels. Location
Here is a place where you can change your clothes, take more water, and use the toilet. Once everyone has arrived, each of us will get a life jacket and a paddle. We will pack the things that we want to take with us, the rest can stay at the base. After that, we will go down to the canoes, where you will receive instructions on paddling and safety, before getting on water.
On the water, we will paddle downstream and enjoy the surrounding nature. We will learn about river plants and even collect some for our handicrafts. And of course, have a fika together before heading back upstream.
After returning to the starting location, we will get acquainted with various possibilities, methods and ideas related to making handicrafts. There will be enough time to make some small craft of your choice, your guide will provide inspiration and advice. We will even have a closing round to exchange about our experience and show each other our creations.
Please make sure to arrive at least 10 minutes before meeting time. Guided tours have to run when scheduled!
Participation conditions: ability to swim. You are going to paddle through calm waters and no prior paddling experience is required for this tour. From the previous experience, everyone with average fitness and regardless of experience could overcome the distance.

How to get here:
– By car from Uppsala: 2 km after Gamla Uppsala turn left at the Sport Adventure Travels and Valsgärde sign.
– From Storvreta/E4: turn right about 1 km after Fullerö Handel at the Sport Adventure Travels and Valsgärde sign.
– By bus: bus 110 and 823 leave from Uppsala Central Station or look in the UL or SL app. Get off at Ensta stop, walk 800m.
– There is a possibility for transportation from the bus station to the location. Car transport option only by agreement.

CANCELATION POLICY
You can cancel up to 48 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.
For a full refund, you must cancel at least 48 hours before the tour’s start time. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the tour’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded. Any changes made less than 48 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted. Cut-off times are based on the local time tour’s start. The tour is going to be held regardless of weather conditions. If it has to be canceled due to extreme poor weather which may endanger the safety of the group, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund. This experience requires a minimum number of participants. If it’s canceled because the minimum isn’t met, you’ll be offered a different date/experience or a full refund.
